Best Liquid Eyeliner – Tried and Tested

Never ask a woman with winged eyeliner why she is late

ok so eyeliners – I know all there is know about black liquid eyeliners. And I should do as I’ve been wearing it since the age of 14. I’ve tried and tested quite a few over the years ranging from cheap to expensive so I wanted to do this review to help you guys save some time, money and decision making.

Liquid eye liners are the best for intense colour, staying power and are easier on your eyes as they don’t drag like pencils can.

I’ve finally found two that I love and can vouch for. My all time classic favourite is Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner which I’ve used for many a year and my new go to is Estee Lauder Little Black Liner which I was lured to try as it has two types of nibs in one.

I’ll review both so you guys decide what works for you.

I have quite a few classic items in my make up collection that I find myself going back to, time and again for quality, longevity and performance and this is one such product.

This liner has been around for a very long time and it’s no wonder it’s one of Rimmels best sellers.

Pros’s

1. The Tapered Nib

The Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof  has a hard tapered nib instead of a brush which makes it easier to handle to get a precise line and to build up thickness. As you can imagine with a brush you would have to have a steady hand to create even strokes which can result in uneven results or a too thick liner after having to keep balancing both lines out in each eye (which could result in panda eyes). So if you aren’t very artistic, this nib helps level the playing field.

1: Stays put all day without fading

I didn’t know eyeliners could fade during the course of a day until I was lured to try other eyeliners that somehow failed to deliver when tested. This is where I wasted money. Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner does no such thing. This lasts all day without fading or smudging. For the hardcore testers out there -it will of course smudge if you forget you are wearing eyeliner and happen to rub your eyes by mistake but it smudges rather that disappearing so that should give you an idea of the staying power. This is also suitable for people with oily eyelids.

2: Good Consistency and Waterproof formula

The formula is a good consistency that lasts. I found the formula of other brands not as good as they were thin/runny or not as intense in colour which resulted in fading by the end of the end. The waterproof formula ensures that it stays put all day, and yes it will also stay put in the pool or if you happen to cry – I tested both out just to make sure Emoji

3. Dermatologist and Ophthalmologist Tested
Which to be honest I didn’t even know it was but hey that’s really good to know and could explain why I’ve never had an issue with it but will be useful for those with sensitive eyes.

4. Comes Off Easily

It will easily come off with eye make up removers so you don’t need a special waterproof eye make up remover which is an added convenient bonus.

5. Low Price

Another winning factor is the price, for those that are trying to not to spend their whole pay cheque on just make-up. I’m happy to say this is only £5.29 (at the time of writing of this).

Cons

1. Brush or Nib?

Some people may not like the nib and may prefer a brush

Estee Lauder Little Black Liner

“May the wings of your eyeliner always be even”…which is exactly what this eyeliner helps you do. Firstly I like the name and the way it looks but this little beauty is more than just looks and a clever name – it also packs a few winning combos which not all liners offer.

Pro’s

1. The double ended tip

I love that it has both a thin tip AND a thicker tip which makes it versatile in creating lines in different thicknesses depending on what you prefer. There aren’t many liners with this kind of design so I salute Estee Lauder for creating a two for one product.

If you like a natural look then the thin tip can be used for day or if you are like me and like a thin line near the corners of your eyes before it becomes thicker and winged out then the tapered point makes it easier to get to the inner corner while the thick nib has a helpful slanted wedge tip that helps to create thicker lines, perfect for creating shape, wings and drama.

2. Consistency

It glides on easily just like a pen with even consistent colour.

3. Waterproof

You’ll find this liner is smudge proof and flake proof making it ideal for wearing all day/evening or on holiday.

4. Ophthalmologist Tested and Fragrance free.

Safe to use for people with sensitive eyes

5. Comes Off Easily

It will easily come off with eye make up removers so you don’t need a special waterproof eye make up remover which is an added convenient bonus.

Cons

1. Fading Colour

I do find that the colour has faded slightly at the end of the day but I try to combat this by putting on enough when I first apply and I do carry it around with me just in case I need to re-apply for evening. I’m not sure this will be good for people with oily eyelids if it

2. Pricier

It costs more than my other favourite eyeliner but having tried and tested this product I would buy it again for its two for one design and overall performance even if it is more expensive.
